Gouin And The Series Method

Gouin and The Series Method is a direct method in teaching language that developed by Francois Gouin in 19th century. This method taught the students without any translation and grammar .This method created based on his experience when he learned Germany.During his first year in Germany he memorized books, translated Goethe and Shiller and then memorized 30000 words but he still couldn't speak Germany. On the returning home he discovered that his three-years-old nephew during that year had gone through the wonderful stage of child language acquisition in which he went from saying virtually nothing to become a veritable chatter-box of French.
He was interested to know how this little child succeeded so easily in a first language, then he came to a conclusion that language is a means of thinking, representating the world to oneself.Language is a matter of transforming perceptions into conceptions.
This methoud taught the learners with the sentences in sequence related to the theme. In this method, the key of a sentence is verbs and we have to teach our students with the language that related to their daily life.

Ex.
I walk in the classroom
I see a trash
I pick up the trash
I bring the trash to the garbage
I throw the trash into the garbage
-One of the basic principle of this method is students learn better using sentence than words.

Why use blog in teaching-learning process?

-Why should use blog?
Before talking alot about the usage of blog, we have to know what blog is. Based on Wikipedia, blog is a discussion or informational site published on the World Wide Web and consisting of discrete entries ("posts") typically displayed in reverse chronological order (the most recent post appears first. From the definition which is given by Wikipedia we can consider the keywor of blog usage "discussion and information). Here, I will give some reasons why should use blog:
1.It is free, whoever you are, you can make your own blog. The things are needed just laptop/PC/smartphone/tab,the internet access and also your own thinking.Don't have enough money to buy laptop or smartphone?Just ask for your friend to lend you one for 15 minutes or more :D
2.A great place to write diary.Few decades ago, pens and books were the things nedded to write diary, but now you can make your diary more interesting and communicative(you can post you best memory pictures there). This idea is supported because Bruce Ableson,an American computer programmer and wbsite developer,in 1998 Bruce launched Open Diary,it is the first blog community where people can write their diaries and let the people to comment their entries. In addition, writing online diary makes your writing skill developed :)
3.The best way to share information with people around the world. In this case, you start to think globally, look the problem from different perspective.Sometimes people just think based on their own ego, but when you start to jump into the global community you will train yourself to accept diversity and think out of the box.You can build your curiosity to travel around the world because you will see how beautiful something outside. Here, we can also browse news quickly. You don't have to wait toworrow's newspaper just to know what is the new issues. In just a few minutes people can post the new issues and it is served in front of your ways.
4.Supporting higher level of education.Technology now is the most important point to support teaching-learning process in interesting way. Jonassen (1997) suggests "well-structured" learning environments are useful for novice learners and that "ill-structured" environments are only useful for more advanced learners(taken from Wikipedia). The best learning environments can be supported with technology, students can do their independent learning and will be curios to know what will they learn because the interesting way of teaching-learning process by using technology.
5.Best place to earn money. You can sit nicely in your home but the money still comes to you if you know how to use blog in business way.

British Vs American English

Evening guys, as this blog focuses on TEFL(Teaching Language As Foreign Language) , I would like to introduce you with the varieties of English Language ,and the most common varieties are British and American English. Today we'll talk about the differences between British and American English.

  • The use of Present Perfect Tense

In British English the present perfect is used to express an action that has occurred in the recent past that has an effect on the present moment. For example:
I've lost my mobile. Can you help me look for it?
In American English the following is also possible:
I lost my cellphone. Can you help me look for it?
  • Past Simple/Past Participles
The irregular form is generally more common in British English (the first form of the two) and the regular form is more common to American English.
-Burn
Burnt or burned
-Smell
Smelt or smelled
-Learn
Learnt or learned

  • Spelling
Here are some general differences between British and American spellings:

Words ending in -or (American) -our (British) color, colour, humor, humour, flavor, flavour etc.
Words ending in -ize (American) -ise (British) recognize, recognise, patronize, patronise etc.

The best way to make sure that you are being consistent in your spelling is to use the spell check on your word processor (if you are using the computer of course) and choose which variety of English you would like. As you can see, there are really very few differences between standard British English and standard American English. However, the largest difference is probably that of the choice of vocabulary and pronunciation

  • Vocabulary

  • American English - hood
    British English - bonnet
  • American English - trunk
    British English - boot
  • American English - truck
    British English - lorry
